Project Name:     60 Bed Subacute Addition, Kennedy Health System
Location:     Sewell, New Jersey
Description:     Cubellis challenged conventional thinking for this 60-bed rehabilitation addition, resulting in a decision to orient the building toward its customer base-an adjacent acute-care hospital-rather than toward its parent skilled-care center. Still, by working closely with staff, we were able to affect significant improvements to the combined facility operation through careful configuration of the connection and related service areas. A warm and welcoming hospitality feel is consistent with typical 2-3 week patient recovery periods. Innovative guest rooms, nursing areas and social spaces are arranged to promote a high degree of interaction and a sense of personalized service.
