EXPERIENCE
LEED:
Current in Sustainable Building Design and its influence on new construction and renovation projects. Coordinates LEED project specifications and its content for certification. Assists architectural firms and design teams with the selection of LEED certified products. Confirms changes between the design team and the construction team with regards to product substitutions. Represents design teams as a LEED Accredited Professional.
Specifications:
Experienced in specification development and writing, design criteria development, standards and practices, and quality assurance. Prepare architectural specifications, bidding requirements and contract requirements for construction projects. Duties include technical and product research, coordinating specialty consultant specifications, and contractor submittal review.
Management of in-house specification master guides.
Construction:
Administered new construction and renovation projects. Assisted with disaster anticipation and relief programs. Assisted with contract negotiations, enforced contract compliance for installation of equipment and furnishings while carefully monitoring quantity and quality of both labor and materials. Oversaw and implemented all aspects of on site construction responsibilities including AIA documentation, change orders, RFIs, project schedules, project budgets and punch lists. Coordinated scheduling of sub-contractors and deliveries necessary for construction projects. In accordance with project drawings, met all state and local building code guidelines for compliance. Trained all construction personnel on safety topics on a biweekly basis while assuring the company safety policy was met on all job sites.
Building Inspections:
In accordance with international and state mandated codes, assured that all buildings constructed in the City of Delray Beach, Florida met compliance with the Southern Building Code Congress. Assisted with drawing reviews ensuring code compliance.

Company History
Associated Spec Consultants was formed in1992 to prepare construction specifications for architects and engineers. Our goal at Associated Spec Consultants is to combine all our experiences to become our client’s primary technical resource for construction materials, methods, and applications.
The Principals of the firm are James Maxey and Todd Maxey. Jim is a Certified Construction Specifier (CCS) and Todd is a Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) and a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP), with diverse backgrounds in construction, specs and building inspections. In addition to our principals, our staff includes full-time specifiers, part-time specifiers, and administrative personnel that allow us to meet the most demanding schedules. Our Spec Writers come with extensive experience in architecture, building renovations, ground up construction, building inspections, and years of specifications writing.
